What to Do at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport

Restaurants & Cafés

Dining options are varied according to each terminal (Terminals 1 and 4 offer the best).

  • Visit Kafe Kalik located in Terminal 4 that serves the best Caribbean-inspired dishes. Enjoy their jerk chicken and island-style plates, which are popular with travelers to the Caribbean.
  • Casavana Cafe located in Terminal 4 serves the best Cuban coffee, sandwiches and pastries. This is perfect if you are looking for quick, but local-flavored meals.
  • Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza in Terminal 3 is known for their coal fired pizza and Italian comfort food. This spot is perfect for a light dinner before you fly.
  • Shula Burger in Terminal 1 is known for their classic American burgers & casual dining.
  • Starbucks and Peet's Coffee are available in various terminals for early departures and short connections.

Shops & Lifestyle Stores

Duty Free Americas is located in Terminal 4 for international departures, and offers alcohol, fragrances, and gifts, and is available to international departing passengers only. Access is available after the removal of security and exit controls with the U.S. and there are no duty-free stores in domestic terminals or arrivals at FLL.

The arrangement of the stores is small and intention based, geared towards people traveling to the Caribbean, Latin America and select long-haul routes. Rather than a broad display of luxury brands, the emphasis is placed on the higher turnover, internationally recognised brands which are commonly purchased by travellers for personal use or gifting.

In the alcohol and spirits sector Duty Free Americas normally stocks brands such as Johnnie Walker, Chivas Regal, Hennessy, Grey Goose, Absolut, Bacardi and Patron. Rum has an especially large presence, reflecting South Florida's regional travel patterns.

The fragrance and beauty category has such mainstream designer names as Dior, Chanel, Versace, Hugo Boss, Estee Lauder and Lancome.

Gift items and confectionery such as Lindt, Toblerone, Ferrero Rocher and local sweets are commonly stocked.

Florida Marketplace and Ron Jon Surf Shop sells beachwear, souvenirs, and travel-friendly wears. Hudson News locations throughout terminals supply books, snacks and necessities.

Lounges & Relax Spots

Delta Sky Club (Terminal 2) and United Club (Terminal 1) provide access to airline lounges to eligible travelers and are oriented towards quiet seating, refreshments and work areas.

Priority Pass options are limited so airline status is more valuable at FLL.

Other Activities & Unique Features

Large windows throughout terminals provide views of the airplane activity and the nearby waterways. Art exhibits showcasing South Florida culture change throughout the airport to add visual interest while waiting for longer.

Suggested Layover Itineraries

3-hour layover (stay airside)

Remain in your terminal, enjoy a meal in Terminal 4 or Terminal 1, and relax near your gate with runway views.

5–6 hour layover (short city loop)

Downtown Fort Lauderdale or Hollywood Beach is about 15–20 minutes by taxi or ride-hail. Visit the waterfront or grab a quick meal before returning at least two hours before departure.

8+ hour layover (half-day exploration)

Explore Las Olas Boulevard or the beach, enjoy lunch, and return early to account for traffic and security queues.
